Improving your sleep
When we don’t get enough sleep, we can become different people – moody, groggy, hungry, irritable, have brain fog…
We need enough sleep to think clearly, feel great and act right.
Part of getting good sleep is having regulated circadian rhythms. This is achieved by the hormone, melatonin. Melatonin is produced by the Pineal Gland.
The Pineal Gland is tiny little gland located inside your midbrain and shaped like a pine cone. It reacts to the brightness of the environment, and at the onset of darkness commences its work, with peak production after midnight.
In addition to ensuring proper sleep and active wakefulness, the Pineal Gland:
influences the female menstrual cycle;
potential antioxidant;
regulates bone metabolism;
protects against neurodegeneration;
prevents the development of malignant tumours; and
boosts the body’s immune system.
Melatonin regulates sleep; calms the nerves; reduces blood sugar and dangerous cholesterol levels; lowers blood pressure; and has an immune stimulating effect.
It is also interesting to note that the ancient Hindus believed that the Pineal Gland was the remnant of the ancient third eye; and stimulation of this organ could lead to clairvoyance and spiritual enlightenment.
Unfortunately, calcification of the Pineal Gland can occur, effecting the above functions, and development of insomnia, depression and other serious pathologies.
Calcification can develop with age. Melatonin function is also affected by shift work, being awake after midnight, and consumption of fluoridated water. One of the bodies defence mechanisms in protection against the effects of fluoride toxicity is deposition of calcium. Due to the Pineal Glands high vascularisation and location outside the blood-brain barrier, it is the most fluoride-saturated organ of the human body.
What you can do? As the gland recognises night and day, going to bed early and rising early is beneficial; especially receiving the early morning rays of sunlight. Drinking clean water is also beneficial in reduction of further calcification. (Please note that not all water filters can eliminate fluoride, and many bottled waters also contain fluoride.)
In Kinesiology we have a balance for assisting the decalcification your Pineal Gland. Kinesiology also provides a number of other methods to assist your sleep management.
